In celebration of our Spring/Summer 2017 collection, KAYU collaborated with San Francisco based non-profit Creativity Explored – an organization that supports artists with development disabilities. Two pieces from the collection were inspired by drawings by artist Josue Izquierdo, a Creativity Explored backed artist. A portion of all sales generated from those bags went back to Creativity Explored and Josue.
This year, we’re continuing our commitment to artists with our first ever design contest. Beginning Feb 1st, we’ll be accepting design submissions from US based artists. The KAYU team will select one winning design that reflects our brand identity and aesthetic to incorporate in our Spring/Summer 2018 bag collection. Between fun motifs, bright colors, and kitchy designs, we are looking for artwork that reflects who we are.
A portion of all sales generated from the bag with the winning design will be donated to The Dreaming Zebra Foundation, a nonprofit encouraging children to embrace their individuality, express themselves creatively, and follow their artistic dreams. The artists who submits the winning design will ultimately help provide art & music supplies to underprivileged children throughout the world! KAYU will promote the winning artist and their design on social media. The design of bag created will be attributed to the winning artist on our product page.
