Every year we head to New York to show our collection to buyers and press. This year we rented an airy loft in Nolita right at the crossroads of Little Italy, Chinatown and Soho. It’s one of our favorite neighborhoods with a plethora of restaurants, cafes and boutiques. Here are some of our top picks.
Where To Eat
For healthy-ish fare look no further than Two Hands. At this Australian cafe you can expect a small but perfect menu comprised of dishes like acai bowls, avocado toast and corn fritters.

Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings
I’m a sucker for all things dumpling so was enthused to find this bright and cheery dumpling spot. Started by two sisters who wanted to share their mom’s delicious Taiwanese cooking, their dumplings are made of pasture-raised pork, organic chicken and vegetables, and non GMO oil. The cozy space also features a small outdoor patio which makes it a perfect place to people watch.

Nyonya
I grew up in Malaysia and am always complaining about the lack of authentic Malaysian food in the US. Luckily I can get my fix whenever I’m in New York. Nyonya has been around forever and it’s easy to see why with it’s vast menu of Malaysian specialties like Nasi Lemak (coconut rice with curry), Prawn Mee (shrimp soup noodles) and Loh Bak (pork rolls). Don’t forget to order their Teh Tarik – hot tea infused with condensed milk.
199 Grand St
Uncle Boons
We love everything about this teeny Thai restaurant, from the kitschy decor to the potent cocktails and delicious food. Their green mango salad is one of the best I’ve had outside of Thailand. Flavorful (spicy!), reasonably priced fare in a fun space – what’s not to love?
7 Spring St
Prince St. Pizza
There’s always a line at this standing room only Pizza joint. Order their rectangle pepperoni pizza and eat it on the sidewalk while people watching. I don’t normally like deep dish pizza but the crispy pepperoni paired with the chewy crust makes the long wait worthwhile. Tip: Make sure you grab a bunch of napkins to soak up all that delicious pizza oil.

Cha Cha Matcha
Every inch of this matcha cafe is insta-worthy. From the tropical pink and green decor, to the neon lights and cheeky catchphrases (I love you so matcha). But the true star here is the matcha which is served in everything from lattes to soft serve. We love it iced on a hot summer day.

Where To Shop
Apiece Apart
This New York label designs classic, modern pieces that I keep reaching for in my closet. This includes hand knits, whimsical prints and easy summer dresses.
403 Broome St
Marche Maman
We love Maman Bakery’s Nutella beignets and are equally enamored by their adjacent store which features a rotating roster of French designers. Stock up on French linens, beauty products made in Provence and adorable kids clothes.
237 Centre St
Warm
You’ll feel perpetually on vacation at this breezy boutique which features all things warm. Striped espadrilles, delicate embroidered tops and vintage smocks will have you booking that summer getaway asap.
181 Mott St.
Di Palo’s Fine Foods
The best thing about this family owned Italian deli is the service. Expect long waits but be rewarded by expert knowledge on the best cheeses and charcuterie. A perfect place to pick up a picnic.
200 Grand St
Oroboro
For something unique that you won’t find anywhere else head to Oroboro. We love the indigo Japanese textiles, made in Brooklyn leather bags and gauzy linen tops.
217 Mott St
Fueguia 1833
I discovered this perfumery while on vacation in Buenos Aires and immediately fell in love with their Patagonia inspired scents and impeccable packaging. Like their store in Argentina the New York outpost features perfumes made only of the finest natural ingredients like Amazonian Magnolia, Nanah mint and Malbec Grapes. Their candles make a thoughtful gift.
