Jamie’s Week In Mexico

I recently spent some time in the sleepy town of Todos Santos and fell in love. Here are some of my favorites place to eat, stay and play. Plus, what I wore during my week there 🙂

Hotel Desierto Azul

I cannot even begin to express how enamored I am of this boutique hotel. Desierto Azul only has four rooms and is nestled in a peaceful cactus grove minutes from the ocean. A labor of love between a husband-and-wife duo, Fabrizio and Nilù, the architecture and operations are designed with nature in mind, minimizing impact while maximizing comfort. The hotel is solar-powered and features a complete filtration water system eliminating the need for plastic water bottles. Gray water is filtered and used for irrigation, and the bedding is organic and some of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. To top it off, Desierto Azul promotes a plant based eating philosophy and has an on-site bakery, cooking classes and incredibly delicious food.

My favorite moments were waking up to the sound of birds and watching the sun rise over the cactus grove followed by yoga and a dip in the infinity pool.

Our California wristlet is great for storing beach essentials and doubles as a chic clutch.

Tiki Santos Bar

This is the perfect spot to unwind after a day on the beach, where you can sip a tangy margarita and sink your toes into the sand. Everything we ate here was delicious from the local monster oysters to the sooty clams.

Cerritos Beach

No visit to Todos Santos is complete without a day at Cerritos Beach. Known for its golden sands and surf-friendly waves, Cerritos is ideal for both beginners and experienced surfers ,and is one of the only beaches in the area that is safe for kids to swim in.

An airy sarong and vegetable tanned leather sandals are essential on a beach vacation.

Turtle Hatching

One of the most profound experiences in Todos Santos is witnessing the miracle of turtle hatching. Participate in a local conservation group’s release, where you can help guide newly hatched sea turtles towards the ocean. This touching moment not only connects you with nature but also contributes to the important work of preserving these magnificent creatures.

Cap off your visit with a meal at Hierbabuena, a charming garden restaurant that epitomizes the farm-to-table concept. Located in a lush, rural setting, Hierbabuena offers a menu filled with dishes crafted from locally sourced, organic ingredients. Enjoy the freshest salads, wood-fired pizzas, and artisanal desserts that reflect the flavors of the region. Dining here is not just a meal; it’s a celebration of Todos Santos’ agricultural heritage and culinary innovation.
